Sancta Sophia College alumna Cathleen Crossley (FR 1979) has been conferred the title of Honorary Fellow of Sancta Sophia College. The recognition marks more than 30 years of service to the College as a member of the Sancta Council, including nine years as Chair of Council from 2016 to 2025.

Cathleen entered Sancta as a fresher in 1979 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney, followed by a Master of Economics at Macquarie University. She has had a distinguished career as a chartered accountant and tax advisor.
Cathleen has been a member of the College Council since 1993 and has played a central role in many of Sancta’s most significant milestones over that time. As Chair, she led the Council and College through the Broderick Review on Cultural Renewal, championed a culture of continuous improvement, built on the work of her predecessors to establish Graduate House, and provided steady leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her financial expertise ensured careful stewardship of the College’s resources throughout her tenure. She remains a member of Council and the Finance Committee.
Alongside her governance role, Cathleen has been a regular presence at College events and a valued source of support and guidance for students, staff, and fellow Council members.
Co-Deputy Chair of Council Sarah Walters (FR 1984) noted that, “Cath values the life-changing nature of College. She has worked tirelessly to help ensure that Sancta remains a premier place where young people can grow, learn, and find their place in the world.”
Since 1990, fifteen individuals have been made Honorary Fellows, the most recent in 2013. The title is conferred by Council and reserved for those who have made a major contribution to the College, are alumni of special distinction, or are individuals recognised for their particular interest or contribution to the College.
Cathleen was formally conferred the title of Honorary Fellow at the Sancta Council meeting on 22 May 2025 and officially celebrated by the Sancta community at the Chancellor’s Dinner in the Sheldon Dining Hall on 15 September 2025.
The Sancta community congratulates Cathleen on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her years of extraordinary service to the College.
