Mary is cherished for the warm relationships she builds with her scholars, taking an interest in their academic and personal journeys, listening to their stories, and encouraging them to embrace the full scope of their potential.

At Sancta, we are blessed to have alumni and donors who are not only generous but also deeply connected to our community and passionate about our students.
One such person is Mary Smoker (FR 1964), whose support through the Mary Smoker Scholarship and the Mary Smoker-Gadigal Scholarship has transformed the lives of many young women from regional and Indigenous backgrounds, enabling them to pursue their studies at the University of Sydney while calling Sancta home.

The University of Sydney recently featured Mary’s story and the special relationships she has built with current Sancta students, including scholarship recipients Daisy Grady and Kyra Dunning. We’re proud to see Mary and her enduring connection to Sancta and her scholars recognised in this feature.
